To my amazement a year has gone by since I last checked my royalties and sent the resulting donation to Medecins Sans Frontieres. The good news is that the sales of paperbacks and e books over that time has raised another US$ 226.00. This brings the total donations since first publication to US$ 1106.00. The sales comprise 335 ebook versions and 373 paperback versions. Interesting that despite the advent of the ebook, printed copies remain at least as popular. My sales seem to trundle along at about 12 a month, and I must confess that I do nothing to promote them, relying solely on word of mouth and a little sales information on Amazon.
Meanwhile MSF continues to do fantastic work around the globe. I recently read that there are still some 2,300 MSF personnel in Afghanistan despite the evacuation of coalition forces, and the situation in both South Sudan and the Central African Republic continues to be chaotic with continued fighting. Whenever I see reports of the suffering of the people in these two countries I am reminded of the wonderful people we met there who simply wanted to get on with their lives and support their families – just as we all want to do.
On behalf of MSF, thanks to all of you who have bought my books and who have hence directly supported MSF in their incredible humanitarian work.
